Some Rendered Stills

I relied on post-production for a majority of the final product, which helped a lot with render times. Everything was composited in Nuke. The techniques I utilized included:

Render Layers

  • seperating the character from the background

  • blurring the background to create the illusion of depth

AOVs

  • RGBA, Specular, Diffuse, Transmission, all the good stuff...​

Volumetric Rays

  • to create the illusion of atmosphere, without driving my computer insane by doing it in Maya

VFX

  • Dust particles, Smoke...

  • Additional light rays made by making brush stroke masks in Procreate
